Instead of using a traditional clock face with hands, a digital LCD was used to better display all the data. This was joined during the launch in 1974 of the Casiotron watch, the world’s first digital wristwatch with automatic calendar. The Casiotron watch received great recognition for being a revolutionary element that symbolized a complete deviation from the traditional clock.
In 1983, Casio launched the rugged G shock watch. This model shattered the idea that the watch is usually a fragile element that must be handled with care, and emerged as a result of Casio’s technicians accepting the challenge of developing the toughest watch known to man. Using a multiple protection design on the parts, the module and the housing, the shock absorber G provided a significant new type of watch that is not affected by powerful shocks or blows.
Its functionality was instantly recognized, and the distinctive appearance, which embodied its functionality, grew to become very popular, which led to large sales in the early 1990s. The G shock quickly adopted numerous innovative sensors, technologies operated by solar radio and different components for even greater resistance.
